Brakes toured, wrote and recorded their way through 2006 - they supported Editors, Belle & Sebastian, played festivals throughout the summer, recorded their second album in Nashville and ended the year supporting The Killers and selling out their own UK tour. Their album The Beatific Visions was released to Universal acclaim. The first single released - Hold Me In The River became the single of the week on stations including Radio 6, XFM, and Radio 1, they played live on The Album Chart Show, and their home made video was play listed on MTV2. Brakes went back into the studio in the New Year to record two new songs, which will appear as b-sides. They release Cease and Desist, a song inspired by Phillip Pullman's His Dark Material, by the Romeo Dellaire documentary Shake Hands With The Devil, by the old testament story The Book of Job and by the music of Johnny Cash. The single will be released on 7" and download. The band will be giving away a golden ticket, allowing free entry to any Brakes show in 2007. Each 7" will contain cards, the ace of spades is the golden ticket.
